A comprehensive first aid training and CPR course for Childcare and Education, delivered over one full day. This course will cover:
Demonstrate correct procedures for performing CPR using a manikin
Abdominal injuries
Anaphylaxis & allergic reactions
Choking/airway obstruction
Altered & loss of consciousness
Asthma
Burns
Bleeding
Cardiac arrest & chest pain
Envenomation: snake, spider, insect and marine bites and stings
Minor skin injuries
Environmental impact: hypothermia, hyperthermia, heat stroke
Crush injuries Eye and ear injuries Drowning Head, neck and spinal injuries
Needle stick injuries Fractures Soft tissue injuries including sprains, strains, dislocations
Epilepsy
Diabetes
Poisoning
Respiratory distress
Shock
Stroke
Substance misuse
Unpack, activate and follow prompts of an AED
Guidelines for provision of first aid as outlined in Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines and guidelines of Australian national peak clinical bodies and State / Territory legislation and regulations
Social / legal issues including: duty of care, confidentiality, importance of debriefing, need to be culturally aware, sensitive and respectful, own skills and limitations.
How long will it take?
Approx. 5-8 hours contact time. Performance of required Assessments may reduce some time with experienced students and Medical Professionals. All Australian Resuscitation Council updates will be included. Evenings and weekends are OK. When the Trainer has completed all Assessments on Practicals and Required Knowledge, the Course is complete.
How long is the certificate valid?
This Course has a standard curriculum Australia-wide. It is recognised in all states of Australia and your certificate will be valid for 3 years.
