All Medical and Allied Health Profesionals fall under the Health Practitioner National Law Act 2009
This Act clearly defines who is a Medical Practitioner or Allied Health Practitioner and their legal resposibilities including Professional Development.
These statutes are the cornerstone of Accreditation and right to practice in Australia

Physicians and Specialists should consult their governing board.
The extracts below are pertinent to CPR and First Aid requirements outlined in the QI&CPD Program
HLTAID009 Provide CPR completions
are awarded a total of
5 Category 2 points (Activity: 97244).
CPR is also required as part of the RACGP QA&CPD program for General Practitioners.
GPs that are unable to physically perform basic CPR
due to a disability or other medical conditions may be
exempt from meeting the CPR requirement and should
contact their QI&CPD unit for advice
ALLIED HEALTH PRACTITIONERS
ALLIED HEALTH PRACTITIONERS fall under the auspices of the Allied Health Practitioners Regulation Authority
Below are pertinent extracts from each of the Professional Boards regarding requirements for First Aid or CPR Training
Your employer will notify you of their requirements regarding CPR or First Aid Training. The WorkSafe First Aid Compliance Code in the Workplace would define all nursing activities as "high risk", therefore it will always be likely that a minimum requrement would be an Australian Resuscitation Council guideline compliant CPR Course.
Infection Control HLTTIN301C would also be an excellent Professional development activity which attracts 6-8 Professional Development Hours
