What is a USI and why do I need one for training?
Your USI is your Unique Student Identifier and it is a number assigned to you that you can use for all your training with us. You need it to book into our training as it is your way of ensuring that you will be sent your certificate on completion of the course.
Your USI is a number that stays with you for life and can be used for all accredited training that you do.
How do I create a USI if I don’t have one?
If you do not already have a USI you can create one when you register for our course. It’s a quick and easy step you do online. If you want to create a USI prior to registering for one of our course, simply go to this link - https://www.usi.gov.au/students/get-a-usi
I think I might already have a USI, how do I check what it is?
If you think you might already have a USI but can’t remember if you do, you can quickly and easily check if you do already have one by going to this link https://www.usi.gov.au/students/find-your-usi
How often do I need to update my CPR training/certificate?
Your CPR certificate is valid for 12 months, so you need to retake your CPR training every year in order to continue to have a valid certificate. There are many reasons why you need to retake your training, including the fact that the training guidelines are constantly being updated to ensure they are up to date with the latest scientific data. Additionally, it is well known that people can forget certain aspects of the procedure if they are not given regular refresher courses to keep the knowledge top of mind. (You’d hate it if you needed CPR one day and the person available to do it, had forgotten everything they learnt in a course a few years ago.)
How often do I need to complete a regular first aid course?
The standard first aid courses – HLTAID011 & HLTAID012 – require you to restudy the course every 3 years. Your certificate from this course is only valid for 3 years so you will need to re-do the course in order to keep it valid.
How long does my first aid training certificate last?
As above your first aid certificate remains valid for up to 3 years after you have completed your course.
Which course do I need to do to comply with my work requirements?
Different roles in different industries have varying requirements for what is required in regard to first aid training in order to do your job. As these can vary greatly depending on which job you do, in which industry it is always best to check with your employer first. Generally, they can tell you exactly what first aid (and other) training requirements are needed for your particular role. Make sure you find out which course code and/or course title applies to your job.
